Cavendish Golf Course is a quirky par-36, 9-hole public course in Lanai City, Hawaii.
The 3,071-yard, E. B. Cavendish-designed course was built by the Dole plantation in 1947 for its employees.
Volunteers maintain the course
The course lacks a clubhouse, club pros, tee times, scorecards, and club rentals. To play, show up, donate to the little wooden box next to the first tee, and hit away. The greens are a bit bumpy, but the views of Lanai are great, and the temperatures are usually relatively mild.
